In Junelle’s own words: “I am in love. Completely smitten. Traveling through Italy this past year, Orvieto held my heart and didn’t let it go. It is the palette of colors, the softness, the golden filtered light that the sun gifts to those that stay here. The beauty is one of those treasures moments you have to experience for yourself.”
It is a dream come true to find your pilgrim feet in this artist’s sanctuary. You are going to be met by divine moments as you share this space – a sweet convent in Orvieto – with your small circle of friends, all while working and playing in your Italian studio. Think of a beautiful fairytale, some of your best artist friends, at a favorite Italian café, with paints and wine in hand! Yes and amen.
Junelle brings together the best of her creative studies mixed with some favorite collections to inspire your sketching, photography, watercolor, and words. Let Orvieto lead your artistic heart — all of your art will be collected and created in her town squares, cafés, and sanctuaries. Your art journals will come alive in your week together, you will be amazed at the art you create!
She is Yes and Amen, Junelle Jacobsen. An avid photojournalist, prolific sketcher, a wild art teacher and mentor, mum of boy-men, a nun-in-disguise, and lover of the sheep.
She is a passionate advocate for playful curiosity and living life through daily adventures – to see, to experience, to understand and share the goodness that abounds in this life. It doesn’t matter if it is sketching, smearing gesso, shooting photographs, biking or hiking, writing prose, or sharing a laugh…whatever helps to see the world anew everyday — that is her daily work, her call in life.
A huge part of that is learning to live life with open & unclenched hands, following the divine path wherever it takes her, and remembering to have a bag packed for what’s coming next. Junelle chooses to live life with a simple “yes” on her lips, a welcoming heart, and adventure scribbled at the top of the list.
From the moment you sign up…your artist heart will be brimming with creativity! Junelle will prepare you with all kinds of creative ideas before you even reach Orvieto (a care package of goodies is waiting for you!) You will discuss all the ways in which to capture your amazing pilgrimages together.
All artistic and creative abilities are encouraged! This workshop is a supportive and encouraging group for any type of creative expression and willingness to try new art mediums. All are welcome here. Nothing is too complicated for a beginner or too simple for a life-long artist.
The monastery hosts our dreamy artist studio. Junelle still dreams of this amazing space – and she’s sure you will too!
Your Italian art journal will be waiting for you the first day you venture in to the town of Orvieto (along with Junelle’s favorite gelatos!) Morning inspirations will be shared each day over cappuccinos as you plan your daily excursions and opportunities for creative fun. Along with sketching, art journaling, photo taking, you will also create small watercolors, whimsical maps, little landscapes, and colorful collages of your daily collecting. Open your heart to heartfelt poetry, psalms, and stories to add to your delicious and magical evenings.
Our Italian adventure awaits!
Spending time alongside a sisterhood of wild-hearted artists cannot be missed. This is a trip back in time that will encourage your spirit, embolden your inner artist, and give you layers of inspiration for years to come.
Mornings will be spent in creative exploration, either in the studio or out around Orvieto. In the afternoon you will experience the culture of Italy. It might be a tour into the Etruscan caves, a cooking class, or a vineyard visit. There will also be plenty of free time to explore Orvieto on your own. You will receive a more detailed itinerary for the week in your final information packet sent before you travel.
A traditional continental breakfast is served each morning in the B&B. Because Italian cuisine is such fun, some meals are not prearranged allowing you the freedom to choose where and what to eat. Recommendations are offered and no one eats alone!
